BBC Radio One's Essential Mix is one of the greatest platforms for DJs and electronic acts to showcase their music in the mixed music format. 2014 saw some outstanding mixes from the likes of Ten Walls, Bonobo, Porter Robinson, Grum, Deep Dish and the Essential Mix of the year from Caribou. 2015 did not let up one bit as 2013 Essential Mix of the year DJ Eric Prydz, ushered in the new year with the show's first back-to-back edition with his label mate Jeremy Olander.

The mix is almost all unreleased tracks, including a whole host of exclusives never before heard by fans or played on the radio. The pair build the Essential Mix with driving music from their darker techno monikers, Dhillon and Cirez D and then finish out with to more cheery, progressive tracks from Pryda and Olander.

The pair have incredible chemistry that stems from the mentor, mentee relationship, as well as countless gigs they have played together, including some impromptu back-to-back sessions.

Prydz and Olander announced that they were going to take submissions for the Essential Mix and though they took over the two hours for their own music, a few outside names did manage to sneak into the set.
