The Seattle Seahawks will be getting a sonic boost during Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers, as hometown grunge heroes Alice in Chains are set to perform the contest's halftime show.

The announcement came via Twitter on Friday:

Alice in Chains unknowingly ripped a hole in the MusicTimes-space continuum by agreeing to do this gig.

As documented in our September NFL preview, the Packers' theme song this year is "The Rooster."

Last year, the Bears snuffed Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for seven games, and he still came back for the final game and beat them with a mind-blowing play. YOU CAN'T SNUFF THE ROOSTER.

Of course, we also projected Green Bay to lose in the divisional round (which would've happened last week), so Rodgers and the Pack are clearly living on borrowed time.

Our summer Championship projections? Indianapolis Colts over New England Patriots in the AFC (nailed the match-up) and Philadelphia Eagles over San Francisco 49ers in the NFC (not so much).

But we digress.

Alice in Chains have successfully reinvented themselves after the death of lead singer Layne Staley 2002. New frontman, William DuVallm helped make 2009's Black Gives Way to Blue and 2013's The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here Top 5 hits.

The Seattle greats spent much of 2014 touring and are now lending their services to the Seahawks. Here's hoping the national broadcast (FOX, 2:05 p.m. ET) decides to show a good portion of the halftime spectacle.
