The Winter X Games have been ramping their effort to court 18-25 year olds and in the past few years the winter sporting event has tapped into the growing popularity of electronic music to try and reach the youth of America. In 2014 ESPN, the host of the X Games, tabbed international star DJs, Tiësto and Axwell to perform alongside traditional draws Phoenix and Matt & Kim. In 2015, the X Games kept with the EDM theme, switching out the rockers for rappers with Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa taking the stage with Chromeo and Skrillex filling out the lineup.
Some of the concerts were streamed live on TV or online and the Skrillex set was captured for the world to see. His 90-minute blitz features close to as many songs as there were minutes, while also unveiling a host of new material from himself, Jack Ü his duo alongside Diplo, and new music from his label OWSLA.
During his time in the mountains, Skrillex spoke to Billboard and revealed that a Jack Ü EP or mini-album is "coming soon." This has been the talk from both of them for some time now, but the idea of a mini-album is new.
