One of the biggest surprises from this year's Coachella Music and Arts Festival was the announcement of jazz rock legends Steely Dan as one of the peformers, and in support of their appearances at the festival the band has announced a string of West Coast tour dates for April, Ultimate Classic Rock has reported. Dubbed the "Rockabye Gollie Angel" tour, these dates kick off with two performances in Santa Rosa, California, April 7 and 8, and conclude April 18 in San Diego. Other than a stop in Las Vegas April 11, all dates on the tour are in California.

Despite Steely Dan's extensive touring over the past decade or so, their most recent being last year's "Jamalot Ever After" tour, they have not released a new album since 2003's Everything Must Go, which was their ninth studio album overall.

But seeing as how Steely Dan was quite famously a non-touring act during their 1970s critical and commercial peak, they seem to be making up for lost time now.
