The Replacements and Rhino Records recently announced a box set that will feature all eight Mats records as well as the 1982 EP, Stink. The Complete Studio Albums 1981-1990 is scheduled for an April 14 release, right at the beginning of the band's recently announced tour. As Pitchfork points out, the LPs will be the same as the remastered, special editions that were reissued in 2008.

The box set announcement came in the form of a Rhino press release that reportedly went to the band for final approval. Red marker commentary includes the band poking fun at the label ("Rhino will release profit from an eight-disc boxed set") and itself ("Last year, the band was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but lost to Cat Stevens and KISS"). Check out the release below along with the group's tour dates.

Last year, the band made festival appearances, dropped a new song, and played The Tonight Show. The highlight of the reunion came when Paul Westerberg told Rolling Stone that the band would record a new album some time in the future. The songwriter already has a few tracks written.

"We'll call each other up when things go south, because we know we can get a laugh out of each other," Westerberg said about bassist Tommy Stinson. "How many people do you know that you can call up and get a guaranteed gut-wrenching laugh? Sometimes it's worth all the money and kissing and hugging in the world."
