Good news, Deadheads -- the Grateful Dead might be adding reunion shows this summer. Billboard reports that a source close to the group has confirmed that members of the band are considering playing gigs in California the week before the Fare Thee Well shows in Chicago that are scheduled for July. Demand for more concerts with the surviving members is at an all-time high, with ticket requests for the initial shows having reached the millions.

According to the source, Grateful Dead members are considering Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium as well as AT&T Park in San Francisco for two possible shows on June 27 and 28. Peter Shapiro and his Madison House company, which is putting on Fare Thee Well, would also produce the proposed gigs.

Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and the rest of the band recently announced that they will be playing Dear Jerry: Celebrating the Music of Jerry Garcia in May. Eric Church, Widespread Panic and O.A.R. will also play the concert, which will mark the 20th anniversary of Garcia's death.

"Jerry gave his heart, soul, and music to his band mates, fellow musicians, and to millions of fans around the world," a producer for the show said. "Whether playing in the Grateful Dead, his acoustic and bluegrass bands or his beloved Jerry Garcia Band, his songs made us happy just to be alive."

Trey Anastasio of Phish will fill in for Garcia at the Chicago shows. The guitarist has been working hard to get ready for the concerts, telling Rolling Stone last month that he doesn't want to simply copy the Grateful Dead legend.

"There are no Jerry Garcias coming down the pike, anymore than there is a Jimi Hendrix or Bob Marley. They are all at the same level - the highest level that you strive to get to as a musician," he said.
