Wu-Tang Clan fans may be able to expect new music from the rap collective for the first time in nearly seven years. Maybe. The group's Facebook page was updated with a message on Monday that that reads: "The new Wu album ' A Better Tomorrow' coming soon."

It's promising, but Wu fans know not to get too excited too quickly regarding promises about the album. The last year has been peppered with statements and rumors regarding the status of the album, the first since 2007's 8 Diagrams. RZA, producer and we'll-hazard-to-call-"leader" of the Clan, made several statements blaming holdups on emcee Raekwon. More recently (in November), the producer stated the album was about 45 days from completion, a statement that doesn't seem to be true as of publication.

Things looked promising as of Summer 2013, as the remaining eight members of the original lineup reunited to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its landmark album Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), as part of the Rock The Bells touring festival. Wu-Tang members Ghostface Killah, GZA, Inspectah Deck and Method Man reportedly recorded their verses for a new album last summer. Although we would prefer a new record sooner than later, we've also listened to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... recently, and would rather Raekwon be part of the album, even if it takes a little longer.

Despite the update on the group's Facebook page, we're going to temper our hopes for the time being. The group may have left us in the lurch for 2013, but we're optimistic that we'll see A Better Tomorrow during 2014. At least, more optimistic than we are about a new Dr. Dre album.
