Wale is only two days away from the release of his fourth artist album, The Album About Nothing, and he has released possibly the most anticipated collab yet -- "The Pessimist" -- alongside J. Cole. Though J. Cole was not originally listed on the initial tracklist release, it was known that he was one of the few features on the album. Fitting with the theme of the album, "The Pessimist" kicks off with a George Costanza sound bite from season three, episode 17.

The soulful cut showcases Wale's storytelling abilities and somewhat surprisingly, does not feature a verse from Cole -- he only sings the hook. Wale raps about the hopelessness that can face many individuals from the poor inner city, not just from a socio-economic standpoint, but also on a personal and emotional level.

Wale wonders in his second verse:

What's a purple heart to a hurt head?
He done done 12 years, he was told 6
Prolly go back in a minute, ain't sh*t here
N*gga so hopeless
Thoughts are ravaging in the whole crib
Now he post-traumatic and always on the edge
On the pills, some bills, some kids, one leg
N*gga so hopeless

The Osinachi-produced cut is a potentially a sign of things to come for the rest of the album and that is only a good thing with hip-hop being asked to take on a more socially proactive role. Listen to the track below via Rap-Up.
