Papoose has announced that he'll be adding to his already prodigious mixtape career by releasing a free tape every month during 2014. The rapper said that the first forthcoming drop will be titled January, which would be followed by February

"Jumped on the fab and kiss joint #Hope my new mixtape is titled #January my next one will be titled #February y'all know the rest Follow me on my journey this year click the link in my profile peace 2 the #homie @djwillnyc," he tweeted, along with the album art for the tape. The art features a very January-looking scene, featuring pedestrians trudging through blizzard-like conditions. The word "HOPE" is prominent across the top.

Papoose is either renowned or notorious-you can interpret for yourself-for his multitude of tapes. He first appeared in a recording as a guest of Kool G Rap during 1998, but didn't find a label until Jive signed him during 2006. He left the label, and his debut album The Nacirema Dream didn't debut until 2013. Papoose released more than a dozen mixtapes during the downtime. Unfortunately, Nacirema Dream peaked at no. 96 on the Billboard 200 despite positive reviews. Ultimately, the most attention he got during 2013 was beefing with Kendrick Lamar over the infamous "Control" verse.

When it comes down to it, you can't blame a guy for moving to keep himself relevant. A dozen mixtapes during 2014 will hopefully keep the Papoose name afloat until he can start work on a second full-length. Or plan 2015's mixtape strategy.

We can only imagine what would happen if Chief Keef released 12 mixtapes in one year
