We rarely hear anything at all about Tom Cruise's relationship with his youngest child, 8-year-old Suri Cruise, leading many of us to think that he just does a great job of protecting her privacy. But today, April 7, not only have we heard about Cruise's fathering skills but we are also hearing that he seems to have decided to cut his young daughter out of his life. His divorce from Katie Holmes seemed almost too easy, with him not even bothering to fight over custody -- something that had been anticipated -- and now we have to wonder if he intended to completely walk away all along.

According to a report by TMZ, insiders "say Tom has not seen the 8-year-old in almost a year. Tom's rep previously denied that and said the actor has seen his daughter plenty, but on the down low to shield her from cameras. But our Katie sources say that's not true ... that he's just not been a part of her life.

"There's been speculation Tom is distancing himself from Katie and Suri because they've been declared SPs [suppressive persons] in Scientology, but we've checked with the church and we're told that is simply not true," explained the source.

What we know for sure is that Cruise spent three months filming Mission Impossible 5 in London and discussed being anxious to return home so he could spend quality time with Suri. He returned to the States and, although he had a two-week break, he never even attempted to see his young child.

Cruise is now back to work, filming for the next three months in Atlanta. It has long been rumored that Cruise is no longer in contact with Holmes because of Scientology and we have seen him do the same before with Nicole Kidman after they divorced.

The question is whether or not Cruise would avoid Suri simply because she is primarily being raised by Holmes, a non-believer.

Do you think it is true that Cruise is no longer a part of Suri's life? While Holmes clearly is not his biggest fan, do you think she would defend him to the press if he was at least being a good father? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
