Dear former employees of Target Canada, '90s one-hit wonder rock band Semisonic approves of your "Closing Time" cover. Earlier this week, four employees of a now shut down Target store recorded a cover of the classic hit as the made their way through their emptying store, and now it has resonated with the original songwriters.

The video, which has quickly gone viral, caught the attention of Semisonic drummer Jacob Slichter. "[It's] really powerful; that slow walk through the empty store and the sounds of things being loaded in the background. I really hope these guys find jobs," he told The Star Tribune.

Indeed behind the acoustic performance (starring a Target basket drum and an acoustic guitar), the sounds of a store in the process of getting packed up can be heard.

Watch the performance below:

For those who may not remember the juggernaut that was "Closing Time," the Semisonic hit was released in 1998. It topped the Modern Rock Sons Billboard chart and topped out at No. 11 on the Hot 100.
