It has been nearly four months since Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel and GS9 were arrested on a litany of various charges varying from reckless endangerment, conspiracy, weapons possession and possession of drug paraphernalia (intent to sell and possession). News about the case has gone cold over the past two months, but today the "Hot N*gga" rapper and his associates now have news about when they will have their day in court. According to XXL, Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquiille Pollard, and Rowdy Rebel were given a June 25 hearing to begin their trial.

Shmurda has famously been locked up behind bars over the past four months unable to make bail after his record label Epic Records refused to put up the money. He and Rowdy Rebel are currently sitting in Rikers unable to pay their $2 million bail.

The hearing will provide some clarity to the case to flush out the facts of the case through discovery and presenting evidence.

It will be a relief for both men and their GS9 crew to get the trial underway, but a trial of this magnitude with this many defendants won't be decided quickly. There is a lot of evidence to pore over and present to a jury that will have to deliberate over the fate of these men in a high profile, media case.

Kenneth Montgomery, Rebel and Shmurda's lawyers, have maintained this case is being overblown the whole time, spoke to XXL yesterday with some enthusiasm about finally getting into a courtroom to defend their clients.

"What I would want is some reasonableness to take place and that this young man can be given a reasonable bail and get out," said Montgomery. But I know what we're up against. We're not up against reason. We're up against the rule of law."
