Muse is prepping for the release of its new album Drones on June 9 and the tour that will inevitably follow follow-up to The 2nd Law. For fans who don't want to wait months to peek Matt Bellamy and co. live, this week the rockers appeared on Later... with Jools Holland to perform new songs "Mercy" and "Psycho" for the BBC Two program.

Muse opened up with its latest Drones cut "Mercy." The relatively tender track was performed by Bellamy largely with his eyes closed while the rest of Muse provided backing vocals and the pounding drums. Of course, the song's volume got turned up to 11, as Bellamy provided his sweet, flawless falsetto.

Muse was also on hand to get a little "Psycho" with its first released song from Drones. This performance was notably more sludgy and guitar-heavy than the "Mercy" offering, showing the versatility on the new album. With notes attitude and bite to them, Muse cut through the song with near perfect precision.

"Mercy" and "Psycho" are two cuts off Muse's forthcoming seventh studio album Drones, which is set to be released on Tuesday, June 9, in the United States. In addition to these two singles, Muse has also released lead single "Dead Inside."
