This past weekend, ravers from all over the West Coast and the United States proper descended on Las Vegas motor speedway to dance from sunset to sun up at Insomniac Events' flagship festival EDC Las Vegas. In total nearly 500,000 people attended the festival over three days. However, a 24-year-old man died overnight on Saturday according to police. The cause of death is still being determined as a toxicology results may take weeks, but the extreme heat is likely to have had an effect. Insomniac released a statement about the 24-year-old attendee's passing late on Sunday.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the man who passed away. The health and safety of our fans is Insomniac's first priority and we take every measure to create a safe environment," Insomniac Productions and festival organizers said in a prepared statement via CNN. "While the cause of this tragedy will take some time to determine, we ask that you keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Tonight and every night, we ask all of our fans to take care of themselves and one another."

Of 408 medical calls reported from day 2, seven were transported to area hospitals and one person died just before 4 a.m. according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Temperatures reached record highs at 113 degrees Fahrenheit during the day Saturday, though it cooled off somewhat at night.

EDC has made a push to educate attendees on making smart decisions about what they put in their body, to look out for others and to stay hydrated.
