Tyga released his new album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, and according to the first week numbers, the album isn't selling too well. Tyga took to Twitter to express his reasoning on why his "dope album" isn't selling.

Tyga's album only sold 2,200 copies in its first week, which is super low for a mainstream artist. Tyga claims the reason why his sales are so low is because he encouraged people to listen to the album via Spotify, and didn't really plan on selling it in the first place.

He defended his album on Twitter, stating, "didn't plan on selling it. Kuz of label problems. It's a dope album. Got a lot of great feedback and millions of streams." But the album hasn't been getting the best reviews. According to Pitchfork, "[This album] should've been the biggest look of T-Raww's career; instead, it's the casualty of YMCMB's implosion that no one was especially concerned about." Earlier this year when his label Young Money was going through its legal scuffle, Tyga threatened to leak his album, claiming that his best work was being held hostage. Well, judging from the low numbers, perhaps leaking the album amidst all that hype would've worked to his advantage.

Kanye West's creative company, Donda, designed the artwork for the album, but even his co-sign didn't seem to help much. Both West and his wife Kim Kardashian tweeted about The Gold Album, encouraging followers to go grab a copy of the album. And Tyga's rumored boo, Kylie Jenner, also tweeted about the album, encouraging her ten million followers to "go support new Tyga album!" She later put in her recommendations, posting, "Hard For You & Wham are my favorites."
