Musicians often receive tributes for the talent they've shared with the world. Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead acquired endless honors with a wax figure, a Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor and a statue of his right hand, chubby middle finger and all. With the help of his daughter, Trixie Garcia, the guitarist has inspired a fresh editing filter via video platform Magisto.

The platform that allows users to organize and accumulate their photos and videos into short movies has now unveiled the latest Jerry Garcia inspired editing style to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary and proceeding "Fare Thee Well" gigs as well as a three disc box set release titled Jerry Garcia Band - On Broadway Act One: October 28th, 1987. The gritty, faded and appropriately psychedelic filter can be seen in the clip below, which features Garcia Band's enactment of Marvin Gaye's "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)," also found on the latest box set.

Magisto also crafted a competition in which fans can submit their self-made movies, detailing their love for the Grateful Dead and Garcia using the new filter along with the hashtag #JerryRIPS, notes the Magisto website. Garcia's estate will have the upper hand in selecting a winning video which will award its winner with a one-of-a-kind merchandise package containing the On Broadway set along with a four-seater Presidential Booth for the gig at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. The winner's clip will also be available to watch on Garcia's official website.

"We're pretty picky about who we work with but Magisto came to us with absolutely the right spirit, for Jerry and the fans," Trixie Garcia told Rolling Stone. "They just got it. You can see it in the flood of beautiful little video stories that people have done already. They're all personal expressions of love for Jerry and that never, ever gets old."

The Dead have already performed their two Fare Thee Well shows at the Bay Area's Levi's Stadium and will continue to say their tie-dyed goodbyes for a three-day gig at Chicago's Soldier Field this Fourth of July weekend.
