Miguel's new music video is not your average music video. He released a short film called Wildheart Chapter 1: Find Out What You Love and Let it Kill You and it tells the story of three songs from his new album, Wildheart.
The three-in-one mini-movie opens up with visuals for the song "...goingtohell," which shows us a rendezvous in an art gallery. Then it switches over to the familiar steamy single, "Coffee," with some sexy scenes of Miguel enjoying his blue-haired beauty for "coffee in the morning." The sensual tone relaxes as Miguel mellows out and concludes with the laid-back track, "NWA."
In 13-minutes, Miguel takes us on a wild journey through his music in Chapter 1. In true Miguel fashion, the visuals are very sultry and intimate, with various scenes of the singer and his love interest rolling around in bed. The mini-movie ends with a scene of Miguel taking a stroll through his neighborhood, as Kurupt, the rapper featured on "NWA," makes his cameo and delivers a guest verse while casually cruising through the neighborhood in his car.
Miguel's third studio album, Wildheart, was released last week and is already getting some positive feedback. Miguel is experimenting with sensuality and eroticism in his music that is very progressive for the alternative R&B genre. Pitchfork reviewed the project and said, "On Wildheart, his third full-length album, Miguel, the writhing, pompadoured soul singer, has a similar focus, but it's sex-positive instead of sex-obsessed, a crucial difference. Languorous and detailed, it transcends the genre's established narratives with a focus on pleasure and partnership instead of one-sided pursuit."
