We are exactly 201 days away from that moment when finally get to spend an hour with Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in a freshly rebooted X-Files. How do we know? Because the powers-that-be at FOX are inviting diehard fans from way back when, as well as the next generation of X-Filers to join in watching an episode a day, for the next 200 days until the series returns with a limited run on January 24, 2016. They even dropped a 41-second promo that gives us a brief glimpse at David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson together again in the roles that made them so famous.

The new video was posted on The X-Files official Twitter earlier today (July 7) along with a message, "We're counting down to the next installment of #TheXFiles, watching 1 episode a day. Join us! #TheXFiles201Days."

That means that if you have never caught an episode then you still have plenty of time to get hooked on the series that steams on both Netflix and Hulu.

In a recent interview, Duchovny made it clear that after two years of talking about reuniting no one is really looking at this as a one time thing. If the ratings end up being as hot as everyone expects, then there is an excellent possibility that The X-Files will return yearly for a limited run.

If they do decide to come back again then it will be a serious game-changer in terms of how networks view their programming. Instead of looking for an entire season investment, limited run shows may become a popular new way to go.
