While out on the road supporting her latest album, Piece by Piece, Kelly Clarkson has performed some extraordinary covers including renditions of Nick Jonas' "Jealous," Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" and Rihanna's "Stay." During her Indianapolis stop of the tour, the season one American Idol winner took on a powerful cover of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" Thursday night.

"I actually love this song," she said before beginning her performance, Us Weekly reports. "And this is by Miley Cyrus, and this is called 'Wrecking Ball.'" The crowd roared as 33-year-old Clarkson executed the song with nothing but her powerhouse of a voice paired with an acoustic guitar. Piece by Piece saw its debut in February, boasting the track "Heartbeat Song," which caused a riot among Jimmy Eat World fans who quickly heard similarities in 2001's "The Middle."

Discussing the debacle with Rolling Stone, Clarkson said, "I didn't write the song, I just sang it. But I didn't catch that. Nobody behind the scenes did. What's funny is that I was a huge fan of that Jimmy Eat World album! We actually thought our song sounded like The Postal Service - that was our big concern. I thought it was really cool of Jimmy Eat World to say, 'Hey, no harm, no foul." There are only so many chords'."

She continued to detail her empathy for Pharrell Williams and the law suit concerning his "Blurred Lines" single with Robin Thicke. The duo were ordered to pay $7.3 million to Marvin Gaye's family for ripping off his 1977 single "Got To Give It Up." "I felt so bad for Pharrell when he got sued - he's a huge fan of Marvin Gaye, and you know he didn't mean to rip him off," Clarkson said. "And he's the sweetest guy ever. It sucks."
