Massachusetts indie rockers Speedy Ortiz recently launched a help hotline in attempt to keep fans safe during their shows and help keep shows inclusive. Fans can seek assistance by calling (574) 404-SAFE "if [they] are being harassed, or feel unsafe and need help." Currently headed on tour in support of their most recent LP Foil Deer on Carpark Records, the four-piece outfit shared details regarding the hotline via Facebook and Twitter.

Front woman Sadie Dupuis offered fans an earnest explanation for the creation of the hotline. Dupuis confessed on her personal Twitter account that she too, as a showgoer "has felt unsafe" at shows and "didn't know what to do." Using what Dupuis calls their "privilege as performers" to keep their audience from harm, the band aims to "make shows safer and more inclusive for a wider community," as per an official flier posted on the band's Facebook page.

"We believe that as a concertgoer you have a right to an inclusive, welcoming performance space," the band stated on their filer announcing the hotline. "Music should be free of discrimination, [and] venues should strive to keep concertgoers of all kinds safe."
