If there's one thing we love at Music Times, it's music, of course. If there's two things we love, it's music and love. If we had to add a third thing, it would definitely be free stuff. Luckily enough for us (and you), Music Times is partnering with country duo Haley & Michaels to give away a signed lyrics sheet of the couple's surprise breakout hit "Giving It All (To You)."
In an exclusive interview, Haley & Michaels revealed the intimate beginnings to their big hit. "We actually planned our wedding from the road, we were on a radio tour and we didn't get the chance to write our vows until we were snowed in one day during the snow-pocalypse here in Nashville. We actually sat down to write our vows and accidently wrote a song and that was 'Giving It All (To You),'" Shannon Haley said about the song's personal origins.
"Accidently because Shannon always has melodies going through her head and she's always writing songs so just sitting down and talking about words that we were going to put on paper she could...just walking outside I heard her humming the melody to the vows we had just written and that was pretty much how it went down," Ryan Michaels chimed in without pause, showing the true power of a married couple.
The song, which originally was supposed to stay between Haley, Michaels and their wedding guests, quickly went viral thanks to a partnership with Sirius XM's The Highway station. After the romantic song naturally gained traction, it was featured on The Today Show and took on a life of its own, eventually becoming the wedding anthem of couples who didn't write it.
"It's been pretty crazy pretty much every show we did this summer since the song came out at least one couple came up to us with either a story about how they either walked down the aisle to it or has it as their first dance. Parents would come up and tell us that their daughter used it," Michaels said.
To help celebrate the success of "Giving It All (To You)," Haley & Michaels are teaming up with Music Times to give away a copy of the song's lyrics signed to one lucky fan.
