Ben Hansen, better known as Tycho, is not known for his remix work, but the American ambient electronic artist has unveiled a brand new remix of a rather unusual suspect. The Awake producer has remixed Death Cab For Cutie's single "The Ghosts of Beverly Drive." The track is taken from the band's eight studio album Kintsugi.

Tycho totally flips Death Cap For Cutie's track on its head. Hansen keeps the vocal from Death Cab For Cutie lead singer Ben Gibbard, but then totally strips away the band's own guitars, drums and bass for a dreamy instrumental of his own. It is vintage Tycho that surprisingly marries those two different worlds impeccably.

You can stream it below on SoundCloud as premiered on Wired. No word on when it will be officially released.

In addition to the new remix, Tycho is unsurprisingly a fan favorite at Burning Man with his spacey melodies and soft rhythms that have made his sunrise sets something of legend in Playa and beyond. He posts his sets on SoundCloud and you can now listen to his most recent set now.
