The Who's highly anticipated joint 50th anniversary and final tour has been nixed due to doctors orders concerning the health of band member Roger Daltrey. Trailing a series of postponements and mystery illnesses, the singer has been diagnosed with viral meningitis and cautioned to lay low for the rest of the year, forcing he and Pete Townshend to hold off on the remaining The Who Hits 50! North American tour dates.

"We are very sorry to disappoint our fans in this way," Daltrey said in a press release, UltimateClassicRock notes. "For the last four weeks, I have been in and out of the hospital and have been diagnosed with viral Meningitis. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need a considerable time to recover. The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year."

The duo held on to hope to prevent inconveniencing ticket holders as Daltrey seemed to be "getting better" but alas, the cancelled dates will be forced to resume in the spring of 2016, BBC reports. "We apologize to all our fans who have supported us in the last 50 years," guitarist Pete Townshend added. "Once Roger is completely well, we will come back stronger than ever and Roger and I will give you all a show to remember."

Daltrey was specifically saddened upon missing the Teen Cancer America Benefit in Los Angeles, a charity near and dear to the Glastonbury headliner's hearts. While fans impatiently await the veteran British rock band's rescheduled tour, they can look to the release of the latest concert documentary, The Who in Hyde Park, which will make a U.S. theatrical run.
