On the heels of the "DLWML" songstress' son's father not having the nicest things to say about her, Ciara's response to Future's  XXL interview was not what fans expected. The couple who was engaged to be married in 2012 and quickly parted ways after the birth of their son, Baby Future, back in 2013, have publicly struggled to find the balance of co-parenting their one-year-old son. Was her response a subliminal swipe at the rapper or was she rising above and being nice?

For months, the pair has been going back and forth with different ideologies when it comes to raising their son. Ciara's new beau, Russell Wilson, spending quality time with their son seemed to be a great source of contention which Future voiced in his most recent interview.

After being the topic of conversation via social media, Ciara took to her Instagram account quietly and posted a powerful message recited by Kendrick Lamar seemingly in response to the negativity. However, as of now, Ciara has yet to directly respond to the criticism.

During Future's XXL interview he made a point to call Ciara out for being malicious in her intent to keep bringing their son around Wilson publicly saying:

"I'm telling you right now, I'm giving you two sides. Like, I'm cool with it. I'm cool with him being around him but certain situations, we all in the public eye, you can't move around with my son a certain kind of way, you know what I'm saying? I feel like a lot of moves are just made out of just being evil, basically. Because, you know, the success of my album and you still want to make certain moves to take the spotlight off me a little bit and shed light on a negative situation."

Back in July, Future voiced these same sentiments in his interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, while Ciara addressed their strained relationship on CBS This Morning back in August implying that she had attempted to set up a meeting between her current beau and former fiance and was met with pushback. She also addressed the hypocrisy and double standards she was being met with by men public figures saying,

"And to the guys who have such an opinion, know your facts! I did reach out to my son's father for him and Russell to speak and he didn't want to talk to me. You know, we didn't get to talk, and so that was that. I don't know what more they would expect for me to do than just live my life, and that's what I'm doing. My son is the most important and the person that loves me."
