Nicki Minaj has already taken over the world of music, and now the "Anaconda" rapper is looking to move to television. After teasing fans about a big announcement all week, on Tuesday (Sept. 29), Minaj announced that she's joined with ABC Family to produce and star in a new sitcom based on her life growing up in Queens, New York.

Minaj's show will go in to production in Queens this winter, Deadline reports. The network then intends to take the show to series, though it's unknown whether or not it will get picked up.

The scripted comedy is set to take place in her hometown in the 1990s and will focus on her life growing up with her immigrant family from Trinidad. The show will tell the backstory of the 32-year-old rapper and will give a backdrop to what made her the star she is today.

"This is one of the more unique adventures I've ever embarked on," Minaj said in a statement. "I couldn't be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special."

On her Twitter, Minaj announced that she's starting a nationwide search to find a new actress to play Young Nicki on the as-of-yet untitled sitcom.

Though the new TV show may seem like a big branching out for Minaj, this will not be her first foray in to the world of acting. She previously voice acted in Ice Age: Continental Drift and the film The Other Woman. Minaj is also set to star in the upcoming movie Barbershop 3.
