Kylie Minogue's new album Kiss Me Once can kiss the No. 1 album spot in the UK goodbye. Though her first album in four years was an anticipated release, it couldn't quite eclipse another long-awaited album... George Michael's Symphonica. The former Wham! Frontman nabbed the top spot overseas.

According to Official Charts, Michael's Symphonica smashed Minogue's new album, easily securing the No. 1 spot and outselling her by over 20,000 copies, which logically pouts Kiss Me Once with a No. 2 debut. But, Michael's win should come as no surprise.

Symphonica had a lot to live up to. Michael's last album, 2004's Patience went double platinum in the UK, also peaking at No. 1 in album sales.

Following Michael and Minogue, three familiar albums make up the top five in the UK. Pharrell Williams' G I R L landed at No. 3 for another week, followed by Paloma Faith's A Perfect Contradiction and Elbow's The Take Off And Landing Of Everything at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

UK X Factor runner-up Nicholas McDonald's debut album The Arms Of An Angel debuted at No. 6, followed by John Legend's Love In The Future. The newest albums from The Pretty Reckless (Going To Hell), Kian Egan (Home) and London Grammar (If You Wait) rounded out the UK charts.
