Apparently, Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl could have been avoided if another duo would have taken the stage. Big Boi recently revealed that OutKast turned down an opportunity to perform at halftime as the New England Patriots took on the Carolina Panthers.

During an interview with Dan Le Batard, the "Miss Jackson" rapper revealed that he and Andre 3000 had received an offer to perform at the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show, but things came to a halt when the Atlanta rappers couldn't agree on which songs to perform. Andre reportedly wanted to sing “Hey Ya” as well as “The Way You Move” and the NFL said no.

“He didn’t want to cut the songs,” Big Boi said. “He wanted to perform both songs in full and they didn’t give us enough time to do it so we passed.

In 2014, the Atlanta rap duo announced that they would be reuniting after a 10 year hiatus to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Big Boi and 3 Stacks later revealed they would be performing at over 40 festival dates beginning with Coachella. They also performed at Drake’s OVO Fest in Toronto.

In a September ’14 cover story with Billboard, Andre 3000 denied any sort of new OutKast album. Rumors began to swirl that the two would release a new project even though they hadn't even dropped a new single or even hinted at one.

"There are no plans to do [an OutKast album]. It's not like some people think: 'They're about to drop this album!' We don't have, like, one song. There's no trickery or nothing like that," he said, dismissing the idea of any sort of surprise release.
