Mainstream pop outfit Cobra Starship has announced its official breakup with a lengthly statement, calling it quits so that frontman Gabe Saporta can focus on his newly formed artist management agency, The Artist Group.

The frontman's lengthy statement, which appears on their official website, confirms the band's end. "After many incredible years, I'm making the difficult decision to close the book on Cobra Starship." he says, "I started Cobra Starship with a fundamental desire to reconnect to music the same way I did when I first picked up a bass at 12 years old; when things were carefree, pure, and less complicated... I grew up as a little idealist punk who always saw himself as an outsider, and the fact that I got to play in the main arena still blows my mind, so thank you."

The singer, who is also affiliated with early 2000s pop-punk band Midtown, has decided to pursue artist management, a field that he has had some experience in, according to an interview with Billboard. "I managed this band Armor For Sleep," he said "When Midtown got out of its contract, I met Crush, which was the management for Cobra and at the end of Midtown, too. The reason we went with Crush was because they took my assistant and they took Armor For Sleep. I couldn't do [Cobra Starship and management] at once, but I still loved the business."

As for Gabe's new venture, the singer states, "The truth is that there is nothing that I am more passionate about than music. And although the time has come for me to pass the baton, nothing would be as rewarding for me as the opportunity to share my wisdom and experiences with the next generation of artists. And so, me and my boy Mike Carden are starting a company to do just that: theartistgroup.orgGet at us. We'll see you in 2016."

Cobra Starship released four full-length albums during their time as a band, including their most recent 2011 LP Night Shades, most known for its smash hit "You Make Me Feel..." featuring Sabi. Since then, Gabe had reunited his former pop-punk band Midtown for a few shows, an experience that he says took nearly six months for the band to prepare.
