Actress Kate Hudson is gracing the cover of Harper's Bazaar's December issue and she's not holding anything back. Detailing relationship guidelines she follows, her go-to fashion color, and more, here are the top three things we learned from her interview.

The 36-year-old California native is the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn, so exposure to the Hollywood life was at her fingertips for most of her life. Her breakthrough role came in 2000's Almost Famous, which she went on to win a Golden Globe for "Best Supporting Actress." Since then, Hudson's popularity grew and she went on to star in notable films like Gossip, How to Lose a Guy in 10 DaysBride Wars, and Something Borrowed.

Hudson also kicked off an athletic fashion line called Fabletics, which mixes affordable exercise and work out gear with trendy fabrics and designs to help customers stand out and look their best while breaking a sweat. The company is geared toward both men and women.

Heading into the new year, Hudson has a lot on her plate. She's releasing a new book about health, fitness, and finding what's right for you called Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body, set to hit shelves in February.

The mother of two is also working on four films in various stages of production including Deepwater Horizon, about the 2010 BP oil spill off the Gulf Coast; an ensemble comedy called Mother's DayLee Daniel's Richord Pryor: Is It Something I Said? playing the late comedian's wife, Jennifer Pryor, and voicing a panda in the forthcoming animated comedy Kung Fu Panda 3.

Check out what we learned from Kate Hudson below:

1. Finding balance and peace in your life is important.

"It's good to take a second to make my life about getting myself centered, clearing the energy, no overlapping," Hudson told Harper's Bazaar. "I'm at that age now. I really do feel very lucky. I've had my kids and my relationships. I've set my life down - I'm in my house, and I'm alone with my children - and I'm at peace, and that's a really nice feeling. All I really want in my life is to maintain that."

Hudson has two sons, 11-year-old Ryder, from her marriage to The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson, and four-year-old Bingham Hawn, from her previous relationship with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.

2. Ridding yourself of anything or anyone that doesn't naturally feel right or help you grow as an individual can only make you stronger.

"It's hard to let go of something even when you know that it's not right," Hudson said. "If something's not right, I don't believe in maintaining something for the sake of what's considered a traditional family, because I believe that there are different ways to raise children. It's far more effective to raise children in happy homes."

For the first time in five years, Hudson is single and she's fine with it. She believes forcing relationships to work is not her style.

3. It's okay if a specific color or pattern has taken over your wardrobe. Embracing personal style is fun!

"I'm drawn to white," Hudson said. "I've got about 10 throw-on white dresses. I go through them all the time. Long or short, it's sort of my go-to. I've had a cute Balenciaga one for years, a Pucci white dress that I love that I got this past summer."

Although jeans, a t-shirt, and high-heels make up her typical everyday "uniform," her fascination with white clothing continues to grow.

The December issue of Harper's Bazaar featuring Kate Hudson on the cover hits newsstands Nov. 24.
