As Jay Z famously said in his song "Regrets" from Reasonable Doubt, "This is the number one rule for your set, in order to survive got to learn to live with regrets." This is, hopefully, a lesson that Jay internalized after the bad news following Friday's fight between Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto. Apparently, Jay Z made a $100,000 bet with the former boxer Oscar De La Hoya in favor of Cotto. Unfortunately for Jay, Cotto, who is managed by Jay Z's Rock Nation Sports, lost to Alvarez who is represented by De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. Luckily, the money will be paid to a charity of De La Hoya's choice.

Jay Z and his wife, Beyonce, were in attendance at the fight, and had to witness the unanimously decided loss firsthand. Although the fight went 12 rounds, Alvarez was handed the victory with a comfortable margin. Judge John McKaie scored the match 117-111, Burt Clemets had 119-109, and Dave Moretti said 118-1120.

Fortunately for Jay, his sports management company Roc Nation Sports is doing well, and the Roc Nation empire seems to be expanding. Roc Nation Sports has secured contracts with stars including the Seattle Mariner's Robinson Cano, the Yankee's C.C. Sabathia, the New York Giant's Victor Cruz, the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant, and the Nugget's Wilson Chandler.

The company was born of a partnership between Roc Nation and the famed Hollywood talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Further, Jay Z's Roc Nation Entertainment recently announced a partnership with Phillymack, a firm that represents famous personalities like Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas.

Speaking of Phillymack's owner Phil McIntyre, Roc Nation CEO Jay Brown said, "We believe in Phil, his company, and his vision. He is committed to and has a passion for developing talent. His character and business sense are reflective of the Roc Nation philosophy."
