Jazz artist's continue to lay paths into musical territory unknown, innovating the musical landscape and what it means to be "good."

And jazz hasn't faltered as of yet, and even players like Herb Alpert continue prolificacy and churn out jazz standards worthy of Grammy recognition.

But today, jazz doesn't sit at the forefront of popular music necessarily as much as it's featured in the background of some classic chart-toppers.
