There's good news and bad news for the Toronto electronic music scene from this week. We'll get the bad news out of the way first.

The Guvernment, a huge "super-club" that's served as one of Toronto's EDM hotspots for the last 17 years will be shutting down. The announcement was a little odd however, indicating that the venue would be closing its doors on January 15, 2015. That means the club, which has been rumored to be in danger of closing for more than a year now, will actually close nearly two years in the future. B) January 31st seems like an odd closing date.

Toronto's been one of many cities that has shown opposition to the EDM movement, but it doesn't look like the government had anything to do with the venue closing. Apparently the property on which Guvernment rests has been sold for development into condominiums. We in New York sympathize, as our own Roseland Ballroom will be demolished soon for real estate development.

Now the good news: The Digital Dream Music Festival has announced its lineup for the event's third year. The festival, which has traditionally occurred on Canada Day, will feature headliners including Afrojack, Kaskade and Tiësto. You can check out the full list of performers below.
