The Black Keys' eighth studio album is due out May 13 via Nonesuch records. They’ll be touring in support of the effort from mid-May through the end of December, beginning with an appearance at Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The duo will then cross the pond for a string of European festival slots throughout June and July.

Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney announced in a video “press conference” that the band will be returning stateside in September for a 42-date arena tour with St. Vincent, Cage the Elephant and Jake Bugg as openers.

Ever the jokesters and fans of lo-fi television, the video announcement shows Auerbach at Nashville’s J. Edgar Hoover FBI Building addressing the audience as if he were a politician and Carney pretending to be his manager.

“Good morning and thank you for joining me,” Auerbach says melodramatically. “Many of you in this room are my friends. Many of you in this room know me. Many of you have cheered for me or worked with me or supported me. And now everyone of you has good reason to be critical of me.”

We’re not sure why we are supposed to be criticizing him, but at the end he gives us some dates for The Black Keys tour.
