Father John Misty is sort of known for saying some inflammatory things.  From his covers of Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift, to his lying about Lou Reed coming to him in a fever dream, you never know what he will do next.  So it should come as no surprise that when asked about indie rock, the presidential election and his top albums of 2015, he gave some pretty interesting answers.  He ranked his favorite albums (a bizarre mix of a list) and basically called indie rock a farce.

Josh Tillman posted a page of the Under The Radar issue that held his answers to his Facebook page and Consequence of Sound picked up on it. His end of the year list includes some acts that sort of follow his own brand of ballad tinged crooning including Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus and Bob Dylan (at least for his Frank Sinatra cover album Shadows in the Night). Some of the other picks such as Erykah Badu and Alabama Shakes deviate from his own style. Check out his full list below.

01. Jeff Bridges - The Sleeping Tapes
02. Erykah Badu - But You Caint Use My Phone
03. Björk - Vulnicura
04. Bob Dylan - Shadows in the Night
05. Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon
06 Joanna Newsom - Divers
07. Empress Of - Me
08. Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden of Delete
09. Alabama Shakes - Sound & Color
10. Miley Cyrus - Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz

He also gave a pretty lengthy rant about the way mainstream pop is merging with indie rock, spouting off about how he has all these indie rock representatives around him that act like they are building a top 40 talent. Reading it you can hear him sardonically saying it out loud like the lyrics of his songs as he ends with noting that he "can barely tell the different [sic] myself" between indie and mainstream anymore.

When asked about the 2016 presidential race he said, "It looks like World War III is going to be a real hoot."

On his earliest music-related childhood memory, he said, "Choking on a watermelon Jolly Rancher at JC Penny while 'Little Lies' by Fleetwood Mac played."
