Undeterred by yet another nomination and loss at the Grammys, Disclosure have released a VIP (variation in production) for their Caracal  collaboration with The Weeknd, "Nocturnal."

The VIP starts out for the first three minutes and thirty seconds without much change. They keep The Weeknd's crooning about the life of the night and the oscillating arpeggio without introducing a bass line to keep it as hypnotic and soulful as it can be.

Then around the three minute and 30 second mark it completely changes into a classic Disclosure record that they could use in a club setting. They introduce a garage bass line and strip away a lot of the floating synth leads and chop up The Weeknd's vocal to fit the rhythm of the track. The arpeggio changes and they add some different synths underneath.

The original song was quite long for a pop record with The Weeknd, which surprised many considering what the artists that were involved. It is a good record, but it didn't have the radio appeal that one might expect from a Weeknd and Disclosure record. This new VIP makes it more accessible for a club atmosphere.

This is the second VIP to emerge from their 2015 album Caracal. They previously shared a VIP, which is in effect a stripped down remix of their own song, "Magnets" featuring Lorde.

Just after they released their "Magnets" VIP, a remix package was slowly unveiled, which could mean that some "Nocturnal" remixes are on their way.
