Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse suffered a car accident in Portland this past Wednesday (Aug. 3), where he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. While there were no serious injuries, Portland police reported that Brock “hit the rear of a City of Portland Parks pick-up-truck, which hit a Subaru, which hit another Subaru, which likely hit a 5th car that left the scene (perhaps not knowing it had been tapped).”

The Oregonian reported that the accident occurred just days after a headlining show at the Moda Center. St. Pete Simpson of the Portland Police Department reported that Brock was asleep at the wheel and neglected to stop for traffic while on the Southeast Grand Avenue. He had crossed the Morrison Bridge just before his accident.

Police promptly assessed whether or not Brock was intoxicated, but it has of yet only been reported to be a case of driving carelessly.

The last huge news many heard from Modest Mouse was when they announced a summer tour in support of their most recent album, Strangers to Ourselves. Strangers to Ourselves dropped in March 2015. Their summer tour stopped at Sasquatch!, Forecastle and Maha festivals, and wrapped up at Austin City Limits.

Other stops on the tour that can be counted as notable during the tour were dates at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in California, Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas and MusicFest NW in Portland.

At the time Brock said of the city, “Portland’s weird, but it’s kind of crappy weird. It is the most vagrant-ridden… what a collection of human turds.”

Modest Mouse also recently finished a tour with Brand New that spanned only a month and the date in Portland was the last of the 24-date event.
