On Friday fans were looking forward to the release of a new M.I.A. record from her upcoming album AIM. The day came and went without the release of her new single "Bird Song," which features Diplo on production. According to the "Go Off" singer, her label Interscope Records deliberately blocked the single.

According to a series of Tweets, M.I.A. explained the situation to her fans without offering too many details. "Interscope wont clear the diplo bird song so it can't be released!," she wrote. She then asked the label and Diplo to sort things out.

The song presumably represents an end to a contentious feud between M.I.A. and Diplo. The pair worked together and dated in the mid-2000s, putting out records like the Grammy nominated single "Paper Planes." The pair have spared on social media over the years, but this single would appear to mean they are on better terms now.

M.I.A. released a different version of "Bird Song" on Friday, which has been labeled as the "Blaqstarr Remix." Although this is labeled as a remix, she explained on Periscope that it shouldn't be labeled as a remix and was just a different version of the song.

M.I.A.'s upcoming album AIM will be released on Sept. 9.
