Empire of the Sun have announced the release date and tracklist for their third album Two Vines. The follow-up to their 2013 LP Ice on the Dune will include 15 tracks and be released on Oct. 28 via Astralwerks.

The LP was co-produced by Empire of the Sun and Peter Mayes (Sia, The Killers, Mika). It has some impressive features from artists outside of the traditional pop realm, but still very accomplished musicians. Contributions come from Wendy Melvoin, a member of Prince's band the Revolution, Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, pianist Henry Hey and bassist Tim Lefebvre who are both members of David Bowie's Blackstar band.

In a press release, the band's Lord Nick Littlemore said via Pitchfork. "There was an image we talked about very early on with this record, before we wrote the title track, 'Two Vines,' and that was this image of a modern city overtaken by jungle, almost like mother nature taking back the planet. He added, "All the buildings will turn back to sand. All it will be is nature again. We wanted to make something that reflected the beauty of that, and the wisdom that plants can give us about living harmoniously on this beautiful planet."

The album's first single will be "High and Low" and also includes the 2008 hit single "Walking on a Dream," which has seen some recent chart success due to a major Honda ad campaign.

The recording was done in Hawaii and Los Angeles. Luke Steele commented on the serenity of working in Hawaii.

"Going to Hawaii to record was the best idea," said Steele. "That was the catalyst for me. I'd spend the morning surfing, then roll in and make music into the night."

The album pre-order will go live on Aug. 24.
