Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol surprised his sister and the guests at her wedding over the weekend by holding a mini concert with his friend Ed Sheeran. During the wedding reception, the guests were treated to a 30-minute performance by the 2 artists.

According to Entertainment Weekly, McDaid attended his sister's wedding in Ireland together with Sheeran, his bandmates and actress Courteney Cox, who he's been dating since 2013. McDaid was originally set to perform at the reception but when his time to sing came, he invited Sheeran to share the stage with him.

For their first song, the duo played Snow Patrol's 2006 hit "Chasing Cars" from the band's Eyes Open album. The surprise didn't end there as they continued their performance with other tunes including a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition." They also performed Sheeran's 2014 song "Tenerife Sea," which was co-written by McDaid.

Sheeran and McDaid's performance at the event lasted for about 30 minutes. The bride and groom, as well as their guests, enjoyed the star-studded surprise since many of them sang along to the hits performed by the 2 artists.

Patsy O'Kane, the owner of the reception venue the Beech Hill Country House Hotel, saw how the performance by McDaid and Sheeran affected the crowd during the event.

"The wedding guests really were so excited by the performance, everyone was in such good form and it really just lifted the mood of the whole day," she told BBC.
