Alessia Cara is breaking more rules in her new music video for “Seventeen,” which premiered on Vevo yesterday (Dec. 15). Cara was recently honored with the Rule Breaker award at Billboard’s Women in Music event, which took place in New York City. “Seventeen” is the first track from her debut album, Know-It-All, which was released in November 2015.

The video’s backdrop is Cara riding a bus, but traces her life from being a young girl to an old woman. Halfway through, we can see the rising pop star all dressed up and holding a Grammy. Cara has not yet been nominated for an award, but that honor is likely to come.

When asked by a Twitter user what the image was supposed to mean, Cara responded with “it symbolizes my hopes for long-term success in my career. putting it out into the universe, in other words.”

The singer also wrote a description of the video’s meaning in a description posted to Vevo, writing, “It’s a personal song and video for me (starring my family and friends, as usual) and I’m excited it’s finally out for u guys to see. Hope it’ll remind u to enjoy all the little moments in life, especially this time of year. Thank u for making mine that much more special. Happy holidays & enjoy the video.”
