Lorde has responded to an impersonator who succeeded in that tricked 100 fans at a library gig in New Zealand.

The impersonator showed up at the weekly “No Lights No Lycra” dance party at the Grey Lynn public library and was touted as a “super ultra special guest.”

Reportedly the impersonator’s impression of Lorde was so on-point that the crowd was completely convinced in was the “Green Light” singer herself.

Following the post, Lorde and her mother Sonja Yelich revealed on social media that they were in London at the time of the performance.

Organizer of the event Craig Neilson then wrote on Facebook, “Cat’s out of the bag. Last night’s event was totally incredible and I want to thank everyone involved. Most of all I want to thank our incredible performer, Hannah Grace Horsfield who is graduating from Auckland University’s pop music degree in May, and of course Lorde for the phenomenon that is ‘Green Light.”

He also added to Newshub, “It was an amazing performance, the crowd went totally nuts. It was an early celebration of what happens on Saturday (April 1). We thought there’d be more doubt in people’s minds when they left, but there was no doubt because our performer was so incredible.”

NME reports that Melodrama will be released on June 16.
