Demi Lovato's Sobriety

On Friday, Lovato celebrated her sixth year of being sober. During her Tell Me You Love Me show in Brooklyn, the 25-year-old singer thanked her fans for all of their love, support, and understanding throughout the past couple of years.

"Yesterday, six years ago, I was drinking vodka out of a Sprite bottle at 9 in the morning, throwing up in the car. And I just remember thinking, 'This is no longer cute. This is no longer fun. And I'm just like my dad.' So I took a look at my life and I said, 'Something has to change, I've got to get sober' - so I did," said Lovato.

She told the massive crowd at her Brooklyn show that she decided to share her story so that she can inspire other people. She also said that people should be able to ask for help without feeling ridiculed. Lovato added that mental health is something that needs to be talked about.

Lovato encouraged her fans to raise awareness about the issue. She also reminded them that having a mental illness is not something to be ashamed of.
