Eyal Levi
Metal musicians rejoice! Next week, Eyal Levi, acclaimed producer at the world-famous Audiohammer Studios, will be using the CreativeLive stage to offer two back-to-back courses in metal music. The man behind projects by The Black Dahlia Murder, August Burns Red and Whitechapel will offer "Metal Drum Programming" on July 24, 2014 with special guest Andy Marsh from Thy Art Is Murder. On July 25th, he'll offer "Composing Metal Melodies and Harmonies" with Ryan Clark from Demon Hunter.

Both classes are free to watch live but drummers who purchase "Metal Drum Programming" in advance will receive the entire midi prior to the class to follow along in their DAW in real time.

About the Classes:

Metal Drum Programming - July 24 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm (PT)
Eyal will show you how to program fast, slow, and mid-tempo beats (and yes, that includes every kind of blast beat under the sun), fills, accents, and more. You’ll also learn the art of varying velocities and timing so your programmed parts sound realistic and natural.

Composing Metal Melodies and Harmonies - July 25 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm (PT)
A great melody is one of the most important ingredients in writing a memorable song or piece of music. It’s the melody that catches your attention and stays in your head long after the song is done playing. The best melodies are often very simple to play or sing. Writing them is where the real challenge lies.

Join Eyal Levi (Audiohammer Studios, DAATH) and his guest Ryan Clark (Demon Hunter) for their half-day follow up to Mastering Metal Songwriting (a paid 2-day, 28 class session). This class will cover more songwriting ground – teaching you the basics of melodies, how to write them, place them and evaluate them.. Whether you are an accomplished musician or just starting out, this course will answer all your questions related to composing harmonies and melodies in a metal context.

You'll learn how to construct a melody, how melodies and harmonies interact, call and response, countermelodies, what to do when your melody isn't working, key signature changes, how to create tension and resolution, and more.
