Will Smith is back in the recording studio and is hard at work on his new album. The actor teased his new music on YouTube.

It has been a while since the 49-year-old has released an album. How most recent records was Lost and Found, which came out back in 2005.

In the past few years, Smith has focused on his movie career, starring in Suicide Squad and other blockbuster movies. This year, he is finally ready to drop new music.

Will Smith Announced New Music

In a post on YouTube, Smith said that he is inspired to drop new songs.

"At my peak, I was doing a television show, a movie, and an album every year," he said. "So, I was churning out that kind of creativity. What happens is you get to a point where you get empty."

The video shows him inside the studio listening to beats and spitting fiery lyrics inside the recording booth. While not many details about the project are available, Smith gave fans a preview of his new track.

In "The Clique," he brags about his legendary career as an actor and drops references to The Fresh Prince, Halle Berry, Rihanna, and former president Barack Obama. He also gave a shout-out to his own family who he calls as "the real-life Incredibles."

"Twenty years of swagger you just witnessed/ stop the divorce rumors and mind your damn business," he raps. "What I charge for a feature/ Man, that's expensive/ Because y'all be doing features/I be doing features/ So many tickets, the theater need bleachers."

The two-time Oscar-nominee did not reveal a tentative release date but promises to drop new music soon.

The announcement comes weeks after the Bright star made a surprise performance at the 2018 Ultra Miami during Marshmello's set.

According to CNN, the multi-talented artist also hinted that he has recorded a new track for the 2018 World Cup. Rumors claim that the unannounced song featuring Diplo will be released this week.

Will Smith Signs Up For 'Aladdin'

However, haters should not conclude that his return to the music business means that his acting career is waning. In fact, quite the opposite is happening.

As Smith said, at his peak, he was acting and dropping hot new tracks. He recently signed up to appear on the live-action adaptation of Disney's Aladdin, replacing the great Robin Williams as the Genie.

He also recently revealed a planned third installment of the buddy-cop comedy Bad Boys. The movie is set to come out in 2020, about 17 years after Bad Boys II.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have already signed up to direct the upcoming movie.
