The E Street Band's own Steven Van Zandt has reportedly begun putting together an album for Sixties singer Darlene Love. And in order to do so, he's calling in the likes of heavy hitters Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello.

As Rolling Stone reports, the guitarist and Sopranos star promised to do an album with Love nearly thirty years ago, "depending on where you want to start counting," he says. Now, it looks as if we can stop counting because the two are finally coming together.

Talking to the mag just before Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's taping for their upcoming September 23 album Cheek to Cheek, "Little Steven" enlightened readers on just who he's hoping to bring into the studio, including the "Radio Radio" singer and his fellow bandmate, The Boss.

In addition, Van Zandt claimed to have been in talks with songwriters Mike Stoller ("Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock"), the team of Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann ("You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" and "Walking in the Rain," and Carole King.

"Everybody I know that is a great songwriter, I'm talking to," he says. "We're hoping to have an all-star album for Darlene, which she deserves."

The upcoming album will be recorded in Van Zandt's own studio. As far as when it's to be released, the musician hopes, "Maybe in time for Christmas. If not, then the first of the year."
