Country star Kalie Shorr took to Twitter yesterday, March 30, to admit that she has tested for coronavirus disease (Covid-19). She is 25 years old.

In her tweet, the singer explained that despite staying in quarantine for three weeks, aside from "a handful of trips for groceries", she still managed to catch the novel virus. She said that she is better but noted that her experience was proof of how "dangerous and contagious" the disease is.

"It's endlessly frustrating to see people not taking this seriously", Kalie added.

She then recounted in the ensuing Twitter thread that her first few days battling the disease was "absolutely miserable". The "Fight Like a Girl" singer said her entire body is in pain, and her fever "was like riding a wave". Shorr also noted the loss of her sense of smell and taste.

Fans came in to offer support and encouragement to the young country star. The original tweet now has 131 retweets and close to a thousand likes as of this writing.

Before her admission on Twitter, Kalie Shorr last shared an Instagram post over the weekend atop a skateboard. She said in the caption that she "ventured outside for the first time in a while", noting that it feels like "July in high school". She also noted in the IG caption the experiences of people affected by the shelter-in-place orders such as having no idea of what day it is, not being able to spend money, and not being allowed to go anywhere.

A few hours after the first thread, Kalie then gave an update on her new single, "How Do We Do This", with Ian McConnell to be released on Friday, April 3.

Even before her debut in music, the Nashville-based artist has been steadily earning online fame due to her YouTube covers of songs like Taylor Swift's "Blank Space". She was also among the singers who performed in the weekly show "Song Suffragettes", also held in Nashville to a rotating lineup of female country artists.

The Nashville-based country artist started gaining recognition with her 2016 debut single "Fight Like a Girl" played on Sirius XM The Highway. It is followed by "The Y2K Mixtape", her debut mixtape, featuring songs inspired by the early 2000s. In September 2016, Shorr released her second single "He's Just Not That Into You", followed by a five-track EP titled "Slingshot" in May of the following year.

September last year, Shorr was able to release her debut album, "Open Book". It received commendations from various reviews due to its in-your-face honesty in telling her emotions and experiences, often dropping names and throwing allegations across its 13-track lineup.

Earlier this year, Kalie Shorr launched her first-ever headlining tour, titled "The Too Much To Say Tour". It kicked off with a hometown performance in Nashville before playing in five other locations, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York.

Kalie Shorr is the latest in the growing list of country artists testing positive for Covid-19. Two days ago, country legend Joe Diffie passed away due to the disease. Also, singer-songwriter John Prine was rushed to the hospital earlier this week due to a "sudden onset" of Covid-19 symptoms, though he is now stable.
