A letter to WeTV before the incident

An exclusive from PageSix reports that that singer and TV personality sent an email to WeTV bosses, accusing them of turning her "suicidal."

During the Black Lives Matter protests after the death of George Floyd, WeTV execs reportedly sent an email to employees. It included the Braxton family, whose "Braxton Family Values" have aired on WeTV since 2011. The email outlined the company's efforts to support the Black community.

"We fight with each other, we betray each other, and now we're physically assaulting each other," the email said. Tamar blamed the show for choosing "to show the absolute worst side of a strong, independent and successful African American family." The email reiterated Braxton's intent in creating the show. Tamar said that it was "to showcase a strong Black Family as a beacon of hope for all the young black girls and boys out there."

Tamar Braxton later said that "the final stake into the heart of my family" was exposing her secret. She wrote in the email that the network exposed the fact that she was raped and assaulted since she was six years old.

"You broke me that day and I considered ending my own life then for the shame I felt," Tamar wrote.

A representative for WeTV said: "We are keeping her and her family in our thoughts and prayers." They added that they are "joining with her fans sending strength and healing at this difficult time."
