Born Brian Imaneul Soewarno, he got popular when one of his debut single "Dat $tick" went viral back in 2016. While Brian uploaded the song on his SoundCloud, it was most popular in Vine a few months after release. He tackled a lot of issues such as police brutality and poverty, most likely in Indonesia, in the song.

Additionally, the Indonesian rapper uploaded a music video for "Dat $tick." Fans get to see him in a pink polo shirt and a fanny pack while rapping gangster-style with his friends. The video currently has over 150m views, 2m likes, and 89k comments.

Rappers made a reaction video to Brian's debut single. Among them were Desiigner, Ghostface Killah, Tory Lanez, and many others. Some showed interest in collaborating with the Rich Brian. The three, along with Pouya, even decided to appear in the remix of the song.

To date, Rich Brian has made two studio albums consistently each year with Amen released in February 2018 and The Sailor released in July 2019.

Aside from the Indonesian rapper-singer, looks like 88rising stars are dropping a lot of material amidst the pandemic. Fellow 88 rising artist Joji also released a single last week and Diplo collaborated for a lazy afternoon song called "Daylight."
