The Eagles will be losing another feather in its wing as its latest drummer, Deacon Frey, exits the band.

Deacon Frey is most notably known as the son of the late Eagles co-founder and frontman Glenn Frey.

Deacon Frey Exits Eagles: Reason Explained

According to the band's website, Deacon Frey is now departing the band to "forge his own path."

"Deacon Frey has devoted the past 4 and a half years to carrying on his father's legacy and, after some weeks of reflection, he now feels that it is time for him to forge his own path. We understand, completely, and we support him in whatever he wishes to pursue in the years ahead," the statement reads.

Since Glenn Frey's passing in 2016, Deacon "extraordinarily" stepped into his father's shoes at 24 years old and continues his father's successful music career.

The band is grateful for Deacon's admirable efforts and wishes the former guitarist well in his future endeavours.

Despite Deacon's exit from the band, the Eagles still welcome him should he want to join them onstage for future concerts.

"We hope our fans will join us in wishing Deacon the very best as he moves into the next phase of his career," the statement ends.

Deacon Frey Joined the Eagles in 2016

Deacon Frey onboarded the band's lineup in its 2017 tour, months after his father's death in 2016.

Per Ultimate Classic Rock, Deacon first caught Henley's attention when he performed "Peaceful Easy Feeling" at the memorial service of his late father.

"As difficult as that might have been, he was so brave and composed," I'm sure, on the inside, he was churning. After a few months went by I thought, 'Why not see if he would like to be in the band?," Henley elaborated.

Eagles Upcoming Tour 2022

The younger Frey eventually took over his dad's spot and toured with the band until this year.

Upon resuming their Hotel California Tour in early 2022, the Eagles announced, in a now-deleted post, that Deacon Frey will be side-lined for the upcoming tour because of an undisclosed illness.

At the time, no further information was disclosed to the public as it was not also attributed as a reason for his recent departure.

Despite his exit, the iconic rock band will return to the road later this April.

The Eagles will kick off their next leg at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on April 19, 2022.

Slated through May to tour North America, they will eventually traverse Europe and the United Kingdom for some shows in June 2022.
