Adam Lambert is currently working on a musical.

The 40-year-old singer, who featured in multiple stage performances prior to her 2009 appearance on 'American Idol,' is currently writing songs for a theatre production and accompanying concept album.

The 'Whataya Want from Me' singer revealed to BANG Showbiz, "I am working on a new album a concept album for a musical actually that I am creating so that should be coming out probably next year. I will be the star of the album it will be my voice so yes my album will be, that will be all me."

Adam also hinted that he is collaborating with a slew of big-name artists, but he is maintaining mum on who they are.

He continued: "I'm working with a lot of people, it's a dream team of collaborators.

He said fans can expect him to work with songwriters that he adores, all of which are pros in a variety of different fields. It's going to be quite the undertaking, he added.

Since 2012, Lambert has toured in place of the late Freddie Mercury with the iconic rock band Queen, which is comprised of original members Roger Taylor and Brian May.

Along with touring the world, Adam Lambert + Queen have released two live albums: 'Live in Japan' in 2016 and 'Live Around the World' in 2020.

Adam had hoped to record new Queen material with Roger, 72, and Brian, 74, but the drummer claims his bandmate "suddenly lost interest" in the concept.

Roger earlier stated in an interview with Mojo magazine that Brian abruptly lost interest, and he's not really sure why. It can be pure exhaustion and burnout though. "We started it in Nashville when we were all quite tired," he said.

He shared that they also had a disagreement on a title, and the lyric seemed a touch too depressing for Queen, probably.

"But it was pretty damn good, and I hope it comes to light," he said.

While he's not so out in the limelight lately, this does not remove the fact that Adam Lambert has successfully became a household name, from a mere "American Idol" contestant.

It's not always easy to move on from a reality television appearance. Among "American Idol" alums, only a select few have amassed resumes so impressive that the show's origin narrative is merely a beginning point. Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Carrie Underwood are all examples.

Adam Lambert is undoubtedly the most successful person. He did not win season eight 13 years ago, but he developed a global fan base through a successful solo career, which led to his tenure as Queen's lead singer since 2014. Since since, he has maintained a healthy balance between his singing career and various reality show judging assignments.
